This was posted in Badmouths Secret Menu thread by a former employee that can confirm a new fantasy menu item has been invented, and has been actually made!
"...When I worked there I worked with some legends; This girl made donuts out of the puritan hamburger buns. She would roll the dough into balls and then pour chocalate shake on them. Next she would throw them into the frier and take them out later and put sugar on them. You can make them do this, if you talk to the right worker. The people that work at the register are usaully people that haven't been with the company!
for to long. If you wan't to talk to someone who knows what they are doing, you should talk to somebody who works past 11 pm or from 10 am to 11 am. The people who open and close the store know about most this stuff..."

I work there now and usually just quarter the buns fry them for 30 or 40 seconds under the oil, held under by an empty fry basket, then tossed right into a bag of sugar (three or four single-serve packs in a c-bag usually works best) and shaken briskly. Let 'em cool a little, and don't forget to sign the eat sheet for your milk, 'cause these sweet treats are enjoyed best when washed down with some cold milk. I'm definitely going to try it your way, though. It sounds delicious.
Try frying some onions, maybe a slice or two at once, under the oil with the same techinque as the donuts, but just lightly salt them instead of shaking them up in a bag of sugar, and you get a deliciously sweet addition to any burger. Of course you have to be working with the "cool" manager around midnight or so to pull this one off without getting in trouble.
